Dog Sledding North of 60
This program starts in Yellowknife, the capital of the Northwest Territories. Experience Northern hospitality. You will be instructed to mush your own dog team. You travel for two days with your dog team through boreal forest and over frozen lakes until you reach Blachford Lake Lodge. There is no road access to the lodge. At Blachford Lake Lodge you have plenty of possibilities for other activities such as ice fishing and snowshoeing. On this trip you may see large herds of caribou. When traveling at night you may experience the spectacle of the Northern Lights.

Activities at Blachford Lake Lodge
In addition to learning how to feed, care for and harness your sled dogs, enjoy ice fishing, cross country skiing on 20km of groomed trails, snowshoeing, ice skating, snowmobiling (caribou viewing may be a possibility), Dene (Indian) cultural activities in the tipi, quinzhee or igloo making, maple syrup on the snow (maple toffee), identifying animal tracks, ice sculpting, skijoring, aurora borealis (Northern Lights) and star gazing, soaking in the hot tub or sauna, or sitting by the campfire. |
