Caving – A Day through Alberta’s Underworld
Alberta Underworld is a unique natural history experience in Alberta’s hidden wilderness. Go into a world that is totally different from the surface sunlit world. Beyond the reach of mechanized transport, these caves can only be experience by your own efforts. Most Rockies caves have not been know for long and new cave systems are still being discovered. Except for the deep oceans and outer space, caves provide one of the last places on earth for original exploration. Here, you will enter a world of rock passages etched and sculpted by water. Descending Cable Ladders, you will pass through a series of chambers ending at a beautifully decorated grotto full of stalactites and stalagmites. From here the passage descends under water but you return to explore labyrinth of tubes and tunnels before returning up the ladders to the surface.
Tour includes a rappel/abseil of an 18m (60ft) drop, climb and traverse both large and narrow passages. No experience necessary, but participants should be reasonably fit.
