Tour Itinerary |
Day 1:
The guests will be met at the Calgary airport and driven to a hotel in Calgary. The evening is free to relax. Days 2-6:
You will be picked up at your hotel and driven to the Kananaskis Country west of Bragg Creek. Here you meet your guide and outfitter, who will be with you for the next five days. First you are matched with a horse of appropriate temperament, then you pack the horses and the riding adventure begins!
On this trip, take the time to study the wildlife of the Canadian Rockies and place the emphasis on enjoyment of the rugged beauty of the mountains. The Kananaskis area is home to elk (wapiti), moose, mule and white-tailed deer, wolves, cougars, grizzly and black bears, as well as feral horses. Rather than riding the trails, horse trekking programs are offered. Neil MacLaine, the outfitter, will seek out areas where spotting interesting wildlife is most probable,
and places that afford great scenery shots for keen photographers. Overnight will be in rustic mountain camps.
Upon return to the “outpost”, it is time to say goodbye to your horse and your new friends. Transfer back to Calgary and overnight at a downtown hotel. For your evening, good restaurants and bars can be recommended to enjoy Calgary’s unique atmosphere. Day 7:
Free time for shopping and sightseeing. Transfer to the airport. |
