Overview

Mexican World-Class Ecotourism in the Last Wilderness Frontiers, the Amazing Desert and Seas of the Baja California Peninsula
Kuyimá's headquarters is located in San Ignacio, a picturesque little town founded in the 17th century by Jesuit missionaries in an oasis in the middle of the desert. They invite you to discover the natural and cultural wonders of Baja, California, enjoying them in a new and exciting way: through ecotourism.

Framed by the beautiful natural scenery of the Pacific Ocean, the Sea of Cortez and the Central Desert of Baja California lays El Vizcaino Biosphere Reserve, in the very heart of the Baja, California Peninsula.

Of incomparable beauty, this Natural World Heritage Site houses great animal and plan diversity, its hidden and unaltered landscape stewarding the impressive and enigmatic signature of extinct prehistoric cultures that once inhabited this deserted land.

Share with the gray whales the magic of San Ignacio Lagoon, where these amazing creatures arrive each year after a journey of over 10,000 miles from their feeding grounds at the Bering Sea. The moving scene of a mother whale taking care of her newborn offspring or the impressive courtship that precedes the mating of these colossal marine mammals will take your breath away, leaving images in your heart that you will never forget.

Paddle the waters of the lagoon in a kayak and immerse yourself in mangrove labyrinths disturbed only by the hectic activity of thousands of birds at sunset or by a school of juvenile fish. Land on a solitary pocket beach, sea-land boundary surrounded by sand dunes reach heights of up to 200 feet.

Enjoy the scenic beauty of the Sierra de San Francisco, with is peculiar vegetation of boojum, elephant, and palm trees, intermingled with cacti and succulents. Descend its canyons to discover caves where monumental paintings evidence the passage of ancient people through these secluded regions. Give flight to your imagination, leading to a multitude of conjectures about the past of these lands.

Kuyimá gives you the opportunity to experience these and other unforgettable moments through a variety of tours, campouts, and expeditions. Their programs are suited to your personal preferences for adventure and comfort, as well as to your physical condition and time schedule, always in a pleasant, personalized ambiance and in complete harmony with nature.

Kuyimá organizes and provides all the camping equipment for its expeditions. They work together with local guides who are more than eager to share their knowledge of this isolated region of Mexico, with its peculiar, nature-friendly lifestyle.
