Alaska Wilderness Expeditions in Association with Golden Eagle Outfitters
The goal is to provide you with a unique, once in a lifetime, and truly Alaskan wilderness experience, customized to the comfort level you desire. Golden Eagle Outfitters hopes your time with them will be an escape from urban life and that, along with learning more about the intriguing and exciting natural world, maybe you will learn a little about yourself and how nature can relax and relieve you of the stress of today’s busy, modern-day life. The fast pace of modern lifestyles is taking us further and further out of touch with the rejuvenating and essential relationships with nature and all its incredible beauty and peacefulness. The goal is to get you in touch with this while you are with Golden Eagle.

Wilderness experiences vary from a low impact but beautiful and exciting flight seeing trip, to an unguided trip where you are dropped off on a pristine river or high in the majestic Alaska Range. Golden Eagle Outfitters also offers guided trips that can be customized to the degree to which you desire. They can be all-inclusive or you can provide gear and food and just let Golden Eagle accompany your group. Their staff are all lifelong Alaskans and experienced in the local area and its flora and fauna.

Flight seeing trips are over the rugged, untouched glaciers and mountains of the mid-Alaska Range. Mt. Hayes (13,832ft) and Mt. Moffit (13,020ft) are both incredibly massive and breathtaking, along with the Trident, Hayes, and 50mile long Black Rapids Glacier. An hour of flight seeing will get you close and personal with this great area, plus a view of the mid-Tanana Valley and its wildlife.

All wilderness trips begin and end with an exciting and picturesque 40 to 50-minutes bush flight. The glacier and mountain camp is on a terrace at 4,000 feet beside the Trident Glacier. It offers unlimited walking and hiking possibilities with incredible views of Mt. Moffit or Hayes and the surrounding glaciers. Wildlife such as caribou, Dall sheep, Grizzly bears, wolves, and many species of small mammals and bird life can be seen at any time. These high country excursions can truly be an experience of a lifetime. This country and its wildlife is as impressive as Denali Park, but without roads, manmade trails and other visitors. Your group will be the only people in the area.

Float trips start with a bush flight and gravel-bar landing strip, which is always exciting, but safe, for first-timers. The floats are on pristine, clear rivers in the Tanana Hills. Very little trace of man is visible, except 100-year-old mining cabins. Grayling fishing is excellent with 16 to 18-inch fish common, and wildlife is abundant. Gold panning also can be experience on these river.

Golden Eagle Outfitters adheres to the “Leave No Trace’ philosophy in all excursions and camps. There are no cut trails or permanent camps, therefore, when you leave an area it looks just as it did when you arrived. Groups are restricted to a maximum of six, with the exception of family groups, which are encouraged. Golden Eagle would strongly recommend adventure their trips for the increasingly popular women-only adventure groups.
