Overview
Pachijal Reserva Ecologica is driven by the following motivations: - The wish to give a little contribution to environmental conservation with about 100ha of primary forest.
- The pleasure to place it at your disposal so that you can enjoy it.
- The will to demonstrate that nature can be a source of profit also when respected and protected.
To help clients enjoy the cloud forest, the Valley of Mindo, and the other beauties of Ecuador, Pachijal has worked out a variety of offers, outlined below. Most of the activities will be based at Pachijal Reserva Ecologica as accommodations.
Pachijal Philosophy
First of all Pachijal welcomes the opportunity to design a custom vacations in order to fit your needs.
Second, some of the activities and active travels offered are ideal for group or family adventure trips, and for people who want to spend some time together in nature and meeting new cultures. These would also be ideally suited to corporate retreats for team building in an adventure and wildlife viewing context.
Last, but certainly not least, when you only have a short time to vacation, many of the offers are suitable for weekend getaway trips.
Accomodations Only
The cloud forest eco lodge is built around previously existing trees. This took some time and effort, but was clearly worth it, as you’ll see when you visit. The entire building allows guests to rest in open-air areas, protected from the rain by an arcade running all around. On the roof, you’ll find a terrace with a panoramic view.
Pachijal has built a small gem allowing guests to live at the very best situation that is only to be experienced. They decided to build a jungle eco lodge with a foot inside the wood and the result is that they have built all around some trees already there before Pachijal’s arrival. The restaurant is dedicated to residents and therefore isn’t going to be very crowded and noisy. One can eat inside or outside, with a choice of Ecuadorian and Italian cooking.
Bird Watching Tours
Birding packages have been arranged for those that want to visit Mindo to watch birds as their main activity, due to the fact that Mindo is known world wide for their bird watching activities.
Pachijal conducts birdwatching activities partly inside the reserve, followed by a local guide and a licensed guide, specialized in bird watching in the cloud forest, and partly via excursions in the Valley of Mindo, with Pachijal’s own transport and followed by a licensed guide specialized in bird watching in the cloud forest.
Naturalist Tourism Tours
Pachijal Reserva Ecologica has designed packages taking into account the reason you go on a vacation - in order to enjoy nature, view beautiful landscapes, and experience new cultures. All of these things can be experienced while visiting the Mindo Cloud Forest.
Pachijal welcomes the opportunity to design a personalized visit or, if you like, you may design your own.
A Collage of Andean and Tropical Ecuador
The tour allows one to visit various natural environments: Paramo on the Andes; the cloud forest at Pachijal and surroundings; the Pacific Ocean at Rio Verde with its large and lonely beaches (the mass tourism hasn’t reached this place yet); the Santiago River; the rainforest at Playa de Oro; and again the Andes and the magic of Laguna de Cuicocha.
Many natural environments and many cultures. From Mindo, where Los Yumbos lived, to Playa de Oro and its Afro-Ecuatorian culture. Cuicocha and Otavalo and the Andean Culture. Finally, the Colonial Center in Quito, declared a Cultural Humanity’s Hermitage by Unesco.
And what about conservation efforts at Pachijal and Playa de Oro? All proceeds from local tourism go directly to the community, who ask only to stay where they have always been, protecting a community rainforest of about 10,000 ha. This is a great opportunity to visit a wonderful place contributing to the local economy with your own visit, to preserve it as it is.
It is an adventure trip. Good for people not used to adventure, but even for those that are used to adventure and would like to be a bit… comfortable.
One last note about the trips … Pachijal believes that anyone traveling alone can join any of their groups, whose minimum number is two.
Galapagos Cruises
Pachijal has signed an agreement with one of the largest Galapagos operators in order to offer clients a free service to choose within more than 30 different Galapagos packages. Pachijal offers in this way a first-hand contact, and first-hand price, taking advantage of the fact that their office in Quito is some hundreds of meters from the Operator’s Office and that they have a direct referral there.
